Things to Look Forward to

At the end of every year, I tend to make a list of new or important things I did that year. But in times of struggle, I guess it would be more useful to make a list of things to look forward to. Well, here we go...
  • my awesome two-week trip to Germany with Deb
  • teaching my first class (ever) in the fall
  • the 2010 Collage Concert :)
  • singing tomorrow
  • a three-day Retreat two weeks from yesterday
  • flying
  • getting a great group of old & new SAPAs
  • a (hopefully) fantastic new assistant (I mean, he's an Econ major, he should be spectacular)
  • getting to eat a home-grown tomato in a few weeks (green today, red soooon)
  • yoga class on Monday
  • getting to add a new country to my list in September (Austria, here I come!)
  • the NASCAR race tomorrow
  • seeing Brit & Josh graduate with multiple degrees in December
  • seeing my parents in 5 weeks
  • waking up to a clean kitchen tomorrow ;)
My favorite of all of these in the short term is teaching my first class ever. I know I am going to learn a lot, and (you know) probably cry a lot. And by cry I mean sigh. And by sigh I mean laugh. And by laugh I mean learn. Good thing is, the first round of evals is thrown out (FYI only). So YAY!!! for that. Possible anticipatory emotions include terror, fear, nervousness, self-doubt, lack of self-confidence and worry. But for me, all I feel is excitement, confidence and joy. I can't wait to get started!
